With the assembled local and national press at “Mi Gusto Es” seafood restaurant in East Tijuana, Mexico, Erik “Terrible” Morales’ Box Latino along with Mexican mega channel Televisa and Corona beer announced “Guerra En El Golfo (War at the Gulf)” boxing event to be held Saturday, April 14th, at the Ernesto Ruffo Appel Municipal Gymnasium in the seaside town of Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. The multiple bout fight card will be headlined by Moreno Valley, CA’s Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West (14-1-3, 4KOs) third defense of her WBO bantamweight female title versus her toughest test yet on paper, Argentinean Claudia Andrea “Chica 10″ Lopez (18-5, 4KOs). The ten round bout will be televised live by Televisa as part of their Saturday night boxing series “Sabados de Corona”.
“I have the utmost respect for Team Lopez and I thank them for taking the fight,” the respectful Kaliesha West stated during her time with the microphone. “I am here to defend my title and keep my title and that is what you are going to see on Saturday night.”
Lopez also expressed respect in her words towards her rival for Saturday night, “I have fought some great fighters women and on Saturday night it will be no different. I know that Kaliesha is a great fighter but we came to win and we will give it our all.”
Also seated on the dais where popular fighters from both side of the San Diego-Tijuana border. Representing the Mexican side, up and coming prospect Emilio Bojorquez (19-1, 13KOs) expressed his excitement to be a part of such an important card.
“I am very for my fight, I have bee working hard and I want to give a great performance for everybody present,” Bojorquez, who campaigns in the super lightweight division stated. “It is an honor to be a part of this card and support these great female fighters in their title fight.
From San Diego, CA, the popular super lightweight Adrian Vargas (5-0-1, 3KOs) was also in attendance and mentioned that he was eager to get the show started on Saturday night.
