Bobby D. Presents at the De Mar Fairgrounds!

Bobby D. Presents, San Diego’s premier promoter, achieves another first when along with Jorge Marron Productions presents “Champions of Tomorrow II” at 31,000 square feet Wyland Center at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Friday, March 9th.  The night will mark the first time a boxing event is held at the Center and the return of professional fisticuffs to the fairgrounds after four years.  The event will also be a fundraiser for the Athletes of the Future Foundation with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the organization which is dedicated to encouraging, supporting, counseling and providing opportunities for young people facing a variety of challenges and helping them reach their potential.

San Diego's James "Choco" Parison

Featured in the main event, super middleweight James “Choco” Parison (15-1, 4KOs) is matched up against the rugged Lester Gonzalez (12-6-3, 6KOs) in a crosstown rival face off.  The popular Parison, a San Diego native, is known as a slick boxer who is on a three fight win streak with his last “W” coming back in September with a split decision over Paul Mendez in an exciting back and forth clash. Parison’s biggest name on his resume is Craig McEwan who against “Choco” dropped a unanimous decision for his only loss back in ’09.

Gonzalez is a Cuban exile that has faced the better opposition in Matt Korobov and Eromosele Albert.  Gonzalez has made San Diego his home for years and is best remembered for his match up against another San Diegan, Chris Chatman, which was one of the best local fights in recent memory and certainly the best of 2010.

The Parison-Gonzalez bout is scheduled for eight rounds.

In the four round co-main event, San Diego’s finest, the always-exciting Amaris “Diamond Girl” Quintana (5-0-2, 1KOs) will look to remain undefeated versus the experienced Elizabeth Cervantes (3-9, 1KO) of Lakeside, CA in a six round flyweight tilt.  Quintana scored her first knock out victory in her last bout over Katarina de la Cruz last September.

In a special attraction, former Baja California amateur star, super bantamweight Christian “Huevo” Bojorquez (5-0, 1KO) of Tijuana, Mexico, faces off against his most experienced opponent Pablo Cupul (6-3, 4KOs) of Yucatan, Mexico, for four rounds.  Despite his past success in the amateur ranks, Bojorquez in many local boxing fans’ eyes has not performed to expectations as a pro but is looking to change all that with a convincing win over the tough Cupul.  Cupul is coming off giving Raymond “Bad Boy” Chacon a run for his money back in January and is ready to halt the Bojorquez train dead in its tracks.

Fleshing out the card, Oceanside, CA’s super flyweight Jonathan Quiroz will make his pro debut versus Anthony Briones (0-1) of San Jacinto, CA, while Jose “Gallito” Hurtado (3-5, 3KOs) of San Ysidro, CA, takes on San Jose, CA’s Steve Macomber (3-11-1).

The Wyland Center is located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California.  Cerveza Tijuana Beer, Pepsi and the Gonzalez Sports Academy sponsor “Champions of Tomorrow II”.
