Tijuana KO artist Arturo “Fuerte” Badillo (20-2, 18KOs) is looking for revenge on Saturday, December 3rd, at the Ernesto Ruffo Appel Gymnasium in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico when he faces Colombia’s Ronald “Indio” Barrera (29-8-2, 18KOs) in a super flyweight ten rounder. The bout will be part of Baja Boxing’s Homecoming” fight card. In the main event, super lightweight Antonio “Kañitas” Lozada Jr. (24-1, 21 KOs) will take on undefeated Cesar “Dolar” Chavez (17-0, 7KOs) while fresh off his world title bid, David De La Mora (23-1, 16KOs) comes back against Eddy Julio (13-2, 11KOs), also of Colombia, in a super bantamweight ten rounder. The fight card will be televised live in Mexico by Televisa.
Back in April of 2010, Barrera made Badillo’s “0″ go and now Badillo is looking to exact revenge against his more experienced foe. At the time, Badillo was 17-0 after four high intensity rounds in which he was the aggressor while Barrera counter attacked, Badillo found himself in deep waters in the fifth. Barrera’s strength and experience bared fruit and by the ninth, Badillo was spent forcing the referee to halt the action after the Colombian trapped Badillo against the ropes and attacked without an answer from “Fuerte”.
“That fight was a great learning experience for me, I learned a lot,” Badillo stated. “I made a lot of errors and I fought like a rookie but now I am sure I am going to beat him and I am going to take that thorn out of my side.”
In his last bout, the twenty-four year old Badillo fought for a world title versus veteran belt holder Hugo Cazares who stopped the Tijuana fighter in three rounds. Badillo is confident with a win over Barrera, he will soon challenge for world title once again, “I am going to be at 100% because I want to avenge that loss. Once I beat Barrera, I want to go for another world title. My promoter, Baja Boxing, has really supported me, I asked them for the rematch with Barrera and they gave it to me. Now all I need is to do my job and then stand in line to go for another title shot.”
