This Isn’t It for Aaron Garcia!

Former amateur stand out Aaron Garcia (10-2-2, 2KOs) of San Marcos, CA, is ready for the biggest challenge of his career when he takes on Filipino Bernabe Concepcion (28-5-1, 154KOs) on Thursday, October 27th, at the San Manuel Casino in Highland, CA. The ten round bout will be for the vacant WBC Continental Americas featherweight title and will be broadcast live Fox Sports Net as the main event of “Top Rank Live” presented by Top Rank Promotions.

Featherweight Aaron "Gavilan" Garcia

After a two year hiatus from the sport, Garcia has found a new vigor for his chosen profession and since then has turned heads with an impressive decision over highly touted Tijuana 126 pounder Alejandro Lopez early this year on the Brandon Rios-Miguel Acosta under card and a highly controversial razor thin majority decision loss to hometown fighter Abraham Lopez in Ontario, CA, last April in which many believed Garcia won.

Once considered the heir apparent of Manny Pacquiao, Bernabe Concepcion of Binangunan, Rizal, Philippines, has fallen from that pedestal despite having world-class experience. Concepcion challenged for the WBO world featherweight title in ‘09, which he lost by disqualification when he struck the then champion Steven Luevano after the bell to end round seven. A year later, he challenged for the same belt but this time against Puerto Rican Juan Manuel “JuanMa” Lopez and was stopped in two rounds. In his last bout in May, Concepcion dropped a split decision to journey man Juan Carlos Martinez.

With both fighters coming off losses, Garcia agrees with many that this bout is a crossroads fight for both in which the winner will have a second chance to make a career, the loser will be quickly forgotten, “Definitely, I agree with what people are saying with both of us coming off losses. This is a must win fight. I want to prove that this is not it for Aaron Garcia.”

Along with trainer/manager Vince Parra, Garcia has been preparing for the bout for eight weeks, sparring in his native San Diego as well as the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, “I know I have to watch for his power but I am ready. I am looking to break him down and I won’t be surprised if I end up stopping him.”
