Both the current WBC lightweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto (55-7-2, 32KOs) and the WBC FECARBOX jr. welterweight champion Antonio Lozada Jr (23-0, 20KOs) find themselves in the mountains of Temoaya, Mex, during the most intense stage of their respective preparation for their June 25th match ups in Cozumel, Mex, and broadcast live by Mexican mega network Televisa and presented by Tijuana promoter Baja Boxing.

Soto of Los Mochis, Mex, will defend his title for the fourth time against Japanese Motoki Sasaki (36-8-1, 23KOs) while Tijuana, Mex’s Lozada Jr. will battle for the vacant WBC Silver 140 lbs. title versus Roberto “Massa” Ortiz (19-0-1, 17KOs).

Sasaki will be challenging for a world title for the second time.  In October of 2009, Sasaki traveled to Ukraine to challenge Viacheslav Senchenko for the WBA title which he came up short via a unanimous decision.  Since then, Sasaki has put together four wins, three of them by KO.

Lozada Jr. and Ortiz will be fighting for the vacant title that Erik Morales left when he challenged Marcos Maidana for the WBA interim title in the same weight class.  While Lozada Jr. holds the aforementioned FECARBOX title, Ortiz from Coahuila, Mex, holds the Fedecentro and the Fedecaribe straps.  The winner should be challenging for a world title soon.

Both Soto and Lozada Jr. train in the same gym in Temoaya but by their respective trainers.  Soto is trained by Romulo Quirarte Jr. and Lozada Jr.  by Luis Roman.
