“Lacandon” Cruz Champion No More!

In a small upset, Orlando “Siri” Salido (34-10-2, 22KO) ripped the IBF featherweight title from the hands of Cristobal “Lacandon” Cruz (39-12-2, KO) via unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Tomas Oros Gaytan Stadium in Ciudad Obregon, MX.

Salido wanted to end the night early as he came out guns a-blazin’ from the first round as he connected hard bombs on Cruz that hurt the fighter from Tijuana, MX. Cruz dropped to the canvas twice in the second round from right hand crosses from the hometown favorite Salido.

Known as a dirty fighter, Cruz was able to slow down the frenzied tempo of Cruz as he complained of head butts and low blows from Salido although no points were deducted from the newly crowned champion.

Salido continued attacking with a steady stream of jabs coupled with upper cuts from eighter fists almost dropping Cruz once again near the end of the twelve rounds.

The championship bout marked the rematch between the two men in which the first Cruz won via split decision capturing the vacant above mentioned title.
