Los Mochis, MX’s Humberto “Zorrita” Soto will defend his newly acquired WBC lightwight title for the first time on May 15th in his hometown against Ricardo “Pelon” Dominguez.
Dominguez is the winner of the latest edition of “Campeon Azteca“, a “Contender” type boxing tournament broadcast in Mexico by the Azteca Channel.
The May 15th main event will be the second time Soto, who train in Tijuana, MX, under the watchful eye of Bobby Quirarte, will appear in Los Mochis as a world champion. The first time, he defended his WBC featherweight title against Oscar Leon of Colombia, knocking him out in nine rounds.
Soto captured the vacant WBC title by defeating David Diaz of Chicago on March 13th in Dallas while Dominguez defeated Saul Carreon, Jesus Gonzalez and Reyes Sanchez on “Campeon Azteca” to win the #1 challenger berth.
The 29 year old Soto carries a record of 51-7-2, 32KO while Dominguez, 24, holds a ledger of 31-5-2, 19KO.
