“Morita” De La Mora Ready for 1st Title!

David "Morita" De La Mora

Tijuana undefeated bantamweight David “Morita” De Mora (19-0, 13KO) finds himself in the middle of his most intense training for his first opportunity in capturing a title. De La Mora will face the experienced Jovanny “Bambino” Soto (27-10-1, 22KO) of Sinaloa on Saturday, April 10th for the WBC’s Fecarbox bantamweight title as part of Baja Boxing’s inaguaral fight card “Nueva Sangre (New Blood)” at Morelos Park’s Palenque in Tijuana, MX.

In September of ’09, De La Mora offered a boxing clinic when he got up from the canvas to stop Luis “Chapito” Valdez in a war that was nominated as one of the best of the year in Tijuana.

Although Soto is taller and more experienced than “Morita”, De La Mora feels that his boxing skills plus the support of the crowd will propel him to victory on the night of April 10th.

Soto has fought internationally in Las Vegas, PUerto Rico and the Philippines and has at one time or another held titles nationally as well as the Fecombox and Fedecentro straps.

The multi-fight night will also feature two other Tijuana prospects go after their first titles when Antonio “Cañitas” Lozada Jr. (21-0, 18KO) faces Colombian Henry “Mamba” Aurad (12-2-1, 9KO) for the Fecarbox jr. welterweight title and Arturo “Fuerte” Badillo (17-0, 15KO) clashes against Ronald “Indio” Barrera (26-7-2, 16KO) for the flyweight version.

All three bouts will be televised nationally in Mexico by Televisa.

Tickets for the event are still available at the Tijuana Municipal Auditorium’s box office. Ringside are priced at 210 pesos ($15.00 dlls) while general admission are at 105 pesos ($10.00 dlls).
