Former jr. flyweight champion Ulises “Archi” Solis (30-2-2, 21KO) looked solid as he defeated Filipino Bert Batawang (46-15-3, 37KO) via 5th round TKO last Saturday night in Ensenada, MX, in the main event of Top Rank Live broacast by Fox Sports Net in the United States and Canal Azteca in Mexico. The night was hosted by Promociones Zanfer and Top Rank.

Solis landed almost at will with fast and hard combinations from the onset as Batawang tried as he might to keep the former world champion at bay.

In the fourth Solis sent the Filipino crashing down to the canvas with a hard right. Batawang was able to beat the eight count administed by referee White Kelly.

In the fifth, Solis punished his opponent with even harder combinations that Batawang was only able to survive with clinching. At the end of the round, the Filipino’s corner threw in the towel.

I proved that I am here to get what is mine. I hope that in July I can face Tamara.”
