On the same Saturday night fight card where the absolute WBC lightweight champion will be decided between Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO) and his challenger Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO), two up and coming prospects will also be making an appearance at the Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, MX.
Lightweight Marvin “Cachorro” Quintero (18-2, 14KO) and jr. welterweight Juan Pablo “CheChe” Lopez (14-0, 13KO) are hard hitting fighters who along with being trained by Romulo Quirarte at the CREA Gym are also represented by the famed Antonio “Cañas” Lozada.
Quintero has won his last five out of six with the majority of those bouts in the United States and some broadcast by Showtime. FOr the last month, the southpaw QUintero was the chief sparring partner for his stable mate, Antonio DeMarco.
Quintero will have a tough test against local Luis “Tribi” Gonzalez (14-1-1, 8KO) over eight rounds.
Lopez, who defeated both Hugo Pacheco and Enrique Armenta in 2009 by knockout, fights for the first time in 2010 against Isaac Estrada (4-2-1, 4KO) of Monterrey in an eight round bout.
