Valero Lands in Monterrey, MX!

valeroinmonterreyThe current WBC lightweight champion, KO artist Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO) who just recently successfully defended his title on December 19th against Hector Velazquez of Tijuana, MX, landed in Monterrey to finish off the final phase of his preparation for his bout on February 6th in the same city against the interim WBC title holder Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) of Tijuana, MX, by way of Los Mochis.  In his last bout, DeMarco stopped Jose Alfaro of Nicaragua to earn the interim title.

Valero was accompanied by his family and his arrival was waited on by a contingent of fans who took the opportunity to take photos with the Venezuelan.  

Valero fought for the first time in Mexico on December 15th, 2007, in Cancun when he knocked out Zaid Zabaleta (18-7-2, 11KO) in the third round.  Valero was defending his WBA super featherweight title.

“I am very happy because I am once again in Mexico, I am Venezuelan but when I am here, I feel that I am at home,” Valero stated upon arrival.  “I hope like always to give a great show and I know that DeMarco, who is the interim champion, has his own style and that is why I am preparing myself so that I can give the best of me and continue to be the WBC absolute champion.”

The Valero-DeMarco twelve round championship fight will be broadcast for the first time from Monterrey, MX, nationally in the United States by Showtime.
