After suffering a hand injury in his last bout in August ’09, super lightweight Juan Pablo “Che Che” Lopez of Tijuana, MX, will make his comeback on Saturday, February 6th, in Moterrey, MX, on the under card of the Valero-DeMarco WBC lightweight championship bout.
Lopez hurt his right hand in his bout against Enrique Armenta last year in Tijuana, MX. Despite his injury, Lopez was able to dispatch his opponent in the first round of a scheduled six. If the proposed opponent for Lopez is confirmed, it will be a stiff test for the undefeated ¨CheChe¨ (14-0, 13KO) since it is rumored that he will be facing veteran Humberto Tapia (14-12-1, 7KO), also of Tijuana.
Tapia, a five year veteran, has faced Danny Garcia, Jeffrey Resto and Brandon among others and was a staple on the now defunct Telefutura boxing series as a tough and game opponent.
The proposed Lopez-Tapia jr. welterweight bout is scheduled for eight rounds.
