With the news that his opponent, WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO) has moved his camp to Monterrey, MX, the interim WBC title holder Anonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) welcomed him to Mexico. Valero and DeMarco will face off on February 6th in a scheduled twelve round championship fight.
“I am glad that he is here and getting ready for February 6th so that we can give the best show possible,” DeMarco of Los Mochis, MX, said. “As a Mexican, I would like to welcome him and say that we are going to treat him well, respect him so that everything goes as planned on February 6th.”
The bout will mark the first time DeMarco, who lives in the border city of Tijuana, MX, returns to his home country since to fight since the beginning of his career.
“For me it is a surprise and an extra motivation because I began to my career in Tijuana, I fought five times here and the rest of my bouts were in the United States,” DeMarco explained. “For me it is a privilege to return to Mexico and especially because the fight is for a world title.”
The Valero-DeMarco championship fight will be televised by Showtime in the United States and Televisa in Mexico.
