For Antonio Margarito the win he earned on July 26th, 2008 over Miguel Cotto has not been as savory as it should. All the controversy that has accumulated from Margarito being caught with illegal substances in his hand wraps before his bout with “Sugar” Shane Mosley earlier this year has sullied his reputation and the “Tijuana Tornado” stated as much in Las Vegas, NV, last month at the Pacuqiao-Cotto mega fight.
“Yes, it does put a stain on my career but I have given my arguements,” Margarito said. “All those who say that I used plaster against Cotto and that Cotto shouldn’t of have lost then, did I put plaster on my face and my jaw so that I wouldn’t feel his punches? I think it is a matter of styles and when we fight again, I will win again.”
“We are ready to give him the rematch whenever he wants it, I think the Mexican and Puerto Rican people would like to see it,” he concluded.
