A prolonged hiatus from the ring did not stop Antonio “Cañitas” Lozada Jr from earning his 17th KO over Salvador Carreon (2-3, 1KO) last Friday night in Ciudad del Carmen, MX.
In the semi main event of the fight card presented by Promociones Calderon, the undefeated Tijuana fighter impressed the boxing audience with his show of power of Carreon, sending him to the canvas twice before the referee would stop the action at 1:58 of the first round.
Lozada Jr, with a record of 20 wins, no losses and 17 KOs, had not seen action since March of this year. The lightweight returned with a solid KO after his previous three wins had been by points.
The unbeaten Juan carlos “Saladito” Virgen (14-0-1, 10KO) of Ensenada also was victorious after dropping Hugo Rodriguez (0-2) twice in the third round of their middleweight bout.
In the main event, Didier “Tanque” Basulto (12-0, 8KO) stopped Luis Acevedo (17-8, 9KO) in the fifth round to capture the vacant WBC FECARBOX super featherweight title.
