Last weekend was a tough one for regional fighters as two warriors traveled outside their home region only to be met with defeat in foreign countries.
Last Saturday night on the Bute-Andrade IBF super middleweight championship undercard, James “Chocolate” Parison (12-1, 3KO) faced off against Golden Boy Promotions’ Craig McEwan (17-0, 9KO) in an eight round middleweight bout. Parison lost a unanimous decsion by scores of 79-73, 78-74 and 77-75. This marked Parison’s first professional defeat.
On Friday night, former IBF straw weight champion Roberto “Mako” Leyva was stopped with a brutal right hand in the fourth round of his challenge for the WBA interim flyweight title versus Luis “Nica” Concepcion in Panama City, Panama. Time was 2:11. Leyva was game but never in the fight as Concepcion simply outgunned him and beat him down in impressive fashion.
