Valero To Possibly Face DeMarco in December!

EDWIN-VALERO-EN-CANCUNIn a sudden change of events, the WBC lightweight champion of the world, Edwin Valero of Venezuela, was denied his working visa for the United States and now will not be able to face Humberto “Zorrita” Soto on the “Firepower” under card on November 14th.  Now, Valero stated in his native Caracas, that he will be headlining a fight card in Venezuela where he will defend his 135 lbs. title against no other but Tijuana’s own Antonio DeMarco, his #1 challenger.

“My problem was with the United States Consulate in Tijuana, MX, where my interview with the authorities was held.  They made me feel bad, I felt they treated me very badly and my family,” Valero stated.  “They told me that my visa was denied because I didn’t qualify for the visa.  They never mentioned to me that they were reviewing it.  I want to state very clearly that I only need the visa to work and that I have no intention in moving and living in the United States.”

He also revealed that he has had a visa to work in the United States since 2003.

“I didn’t have a license to fight in Nevada and now that I do, now my visa is denied in Tijuana,” he added.  “My dream would be to fight in Las Vegas against Manny Pacquiao but if that is not possible, then the Philippines is another option.”
