Salado Comes Up Short!

salado omarIn the main event of a card held last Saturday night at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama, WBA #4 ranked Omar Salado (21-2-2, 12KO) of Tijuana, MX, comes up short once again in his quest for a title when he was stopped in the :39 mark of the twelfth and final round by local #2 ranked Luis Concepcion (18-1, 13KO).  The bout was for the interim WBA flyweight.

 

The semi main event marked the return of former super bantamweight champion, the hard hitting Daniel Ponce de Leon (36-2, 31KO) as he earned a unanimous decision over Roinet Caballero (27-8-1, 19KO) with scores of 119-109 twice and 117-111.  At the time of the bout, Ponce de Leon was ranked as the #3 featherweight while Caballero the #4 by the WBA.  With the win, Ponce de Leon becomes the mandatory challenger for the title.
