After completely healing from a hand injury, current interim female WBC flyweight champion Mariana “Barbie” Juarez is ready to defend her title for the second time this Saturday, September 12th at the Ernesto Ruffo Appel Gymnasium in Rosarito, MX.
The bout will be broadcast nationally in Mexico by CADENA TRES.
Juarez captured the title earlier this year near Guadalajara with a unanimous decision over Irma Sanchez and which she has successfully defended against Carolina Alvarez of Venezuela in her last bout held in her adopted hometown of Tijuana, MX.
“I am excited to fight in such an important tourist attraction like Rosarito. I am confident that the boxing audience of Rosarito will be very happy with my performance,” Juarez declared.
After offers were made to Maria Jose Nunez of Uruguay and Esmeralda Moreno of Mexico, which were declined by either fighter, Juarez (21-5-3, 10KO) opponent more than likely will be Susana Vazquez (4-3-1, 2KO) of Toluca, MX.
Also performing on the fight card will be minimumweight Julio Cesar Felix (11-2, 4KO), jr. flyweight Pedro Gibran (1-0, 1KO) and Brian Hernandez. The bout will mark the pro debut of Hernandez and all fighters are scheduled against opponents to be named.
