The President of Banner Promotions, Art Pelullo and the President of Golden Gloves Rodney Berman announced that they recently signed featherweight Ricardo “PioloP Castillo (38-7, 25KO) of Mexicali, MX by way of Empalme, Sonora, to a promotional contract.
The thirty year old Castillo, younger brother of two time lightweight champion Jose Luis, recently captured the Mexican featherweight title in his last bout held last month and he is a NABF ex champion.
“We are very happy in signing Ricardo, he is a warrior in the great Mexican tradition and we have great plans for him,” Pelullo stated. “We will begin working soon in big opportunities for him.”
It looks like Castillo’s first order of business will be to challenge his stablemate, IBF featherweight champion Cristobal “Lacandon” Cruz sometime in the fall.
