Caballero-Leal This Saturday Night in Mexicali!

caballeroUnder the tutelage of Tijuana, MX’s Nacho Huizar, KO Entertainment will hold a world championship fight this Saturday night in Mexicali, MX, when teh current WBA and IBF super bantamweight champion Celestino “Pelechin” Caballero (32-2, 22KO) defends his title against hometown favorite Francisco “Frankie” Leal (14-4-2, 9KO) over a scheduled twelve rounds.  The bout will be televised nationally in Mexico by Televisa.

“Pelechin” is coming off a successful defense of both of his titles when he defeated the South African Jeffrey Mathebula last April with a split decision in his home town of Panama at the Roberto Duran Arena.  Now, Caballero faces Leal who judging by his record, is not at the level of Caballero or even Mathebula.  Leal has no past opponent of recognition and has not captured any titles in his 20 fight career.

“I see him as an opponent I must respect.  I am not impressed but he seems to be strong,” Caballero stated to Epasa.com.  “I am here to do my work.  It is not just another fight because it would be wrong for me to see it that way, I must win and do it spectacularly.  The audience must like the fight and my part in that agreement is certain.”

In the semi main event, female WBC super flyweight champion Ana Maria “Guerrera” Torres (18-3-2, 11KO) risks her title against the North American champion Ava Knight (5-0-2, 2KO).

Also seeing action is local favorite Gilberto Sanchez Leon (19-6-2, 7KO) will be battling for the featherweight IBF latino title.
