juarezwins1Mariana Juarez of Mexico City, MX, defended her interim WBC flyweight title against Venezuela’s Carolina Alvarez with an exciting display of power and precision on Saturday night in the Zona Norte of her adopted hometown of Tijuana, MX.

Juarez (21-5-3, 10KO) stopped Alvarez in eight rounds of a scheduled ten in her first defense of the title she captured earlier this year in Jalisco.

After Alvarez (9-3-1, 4KO) began to bleed profusely from the nose, the referee Jose Cobian did not allow the brave challenger to come out for the remainder of the eight round.

In the co-main event Oscar Gonzalez of Nayarit stopped Jose Navarrete of Michoacan in the fourth round.  The bout was scheduled for ten featherweight rounds.

Gonzalez (20-1, 16KO) first dropped his opponent with a left hook to the jaw but Navarrete was able to beat the count in the first while in the third round, Navarrete (14-21-2, 7KO) was able to connect with some solids shots but in the fourth, Gonzalez was able to trap him against a corner and land a flurry of punches prompting the referee to stop the contest at the 1:59 mark of the fourth round.

Super bantamweight Jesus Balderas (10-3-1, 10KO) dropped Hugo Jimenez (2-7, 1KO) of Mexicali, MX, twice to earn the TKO in the second round.

Tijuana’s Felipe Salguero (8-2-1, 5KO) sent Alejandro Padilla (2-19-2, 1KO) three times to the canvas to prompt the referee to stop the flyweight bout in the second round.
