Tijuana, MX, bantamweight Juan Luis “Black Pearl” Hernandez earned his fourth win of year as he clearly won a ten round unanimous decision over Hugo Jimenez of on Saturday night at the Tijuana Municipal Auditorium in a fight card presented by Jose “Olivaritos” Morales, father and trainer of former world champions Erik and Diego Morales, and Tijuana’s Municipal Institute for Sports.
Hernandez (14-2-1 8KO) earned the decision with sound boxing with scores of 97-91, 98-90 and 99-89 which reflected the action within the ring.
Displaying much quicker hands than usual, Hernandez almost knocked out his opponent in the fourth and fifth rounds but was not able to finish his rival off because of injuries to both of his fists.
In the seventh, Hernandez was able to score a knock down with a left hook to the jaw of Jimenez (0-1) but the tough Mexicali native was able to continue until the final bell.
Other results:
Javier “Cobra” Mendoza (8-1-1, 6KO) of Tijuana, MX, stopped the previously undefeated Huata Galaviz (2-1) of Nacozari, MX, in the second round of a jr. flyweight bout.
Mario Padilla (2-1, 1KO) earned a unanimous decision in the lightweight division over Martin Valdez 2-5, 2KO), both of Tijuana.
Mexico City’s Hugo Partida (15-1-2, 13KO) TKO’d Carlos Jacobo (2-3, 2KO) of Sinaloa, MX, in the seventh of a scheduled super bantamweight eight rounds.
Francisco Espinoza of Tijuana, MX, made his pro debut a good one when he earned a four round unanimous decision over Alan Lopez (0-3), also of TIjuana, in the super middleweight division.
Venezuelas’ Jefferson Montanez (5-0-1, 4KO) stopped Eliu Duenas (4-10-1, 2KO) of Mexicali by way of Los Mochis, MX, in the third round in a rare light heavyweight bout to stay undefeated.
Eribaldo Ortega (4-0, 1KO) continued his unbeaten streak over David Orozco (0-2), both of Tijuana, MX, with a decision win in four rounds in the super featherweight decision.
