"Perla Negra" in Between Trainer and Manager

Carlos “Rapidito” Rueda of Nicaragua has accepted the challenge of a rematch against the Mexican Juan Luis “Perla Negra” Hernandez, Rueda’s manager Marcelo Sanchez stated.

Last August “Rapidito” Rueda knocked out Hernandez in Tijuana in a bout for the WBC international super flyweight title.  Rueda promptly lost that title to Tomas “Gusano” Rojas and even though he has nothing to prove against Hernandez. Rueda accepted the offer for a rematch.

“I spoke with Rueda and he graciously accepted to give Hernandez the opportunity for revenge.  Now we must wait to see what Box Latino, headed by Erik Morales, offers us,” Sanchez stated.  “We can come to Mexico or do the fight in Nicaragua at the end of June.

Since his loss to Rueda, Hernandez has earned three wins to bring his record to 13-2-1, 8KO.  Rueda has been busier, fighting seven times since their bout which he has won five against one loss and one “no contest” which was his last one against Gerson Guerrero on April 18th.  Rueda counts with a 12-3, 11KO ledger.

In Rueda’s last fight in Tijuana where he knocked out David Gaspar, Hernandez’s trainer Kid Melos asked us for the rematch and we told him that as soon as we were done with Gaspar, we could talk.  Now we are ready to return to Mexico,” Sanchez concluded.
