According to Byron Spurlock of Fightnews.com, San Diego’s middleweight KJ Noons (9-2-0, 5 KOs), former MMA champion, defeated Enrique Gallegos (6-5-0, 1 KO) by unanimous decision.
The most exciting action in the six round affair happened in the first half of round one. Noons nocked down Gallegos down in the first round by a right hand that Gallegos walked straight into. From that moment till the end of the first round was KJ’s best chance to make this an easy night with a first round knockout, but that didn’t happen.
So many factors can come into the audience’s mind as to why Noons was playing around with this fighter for five more rounds. Gallegos would rise to beat the count in the first round and go on to make a hard valiant effort at winning the fight Thursday night.
For more than enough rounds both fighters threw and landed equal shots. At moments it wasn’t clear if KJ was going to finish the round for Gallegos appeared to fighting with a new sense of strength and determination to make this a fight, and that’s exactly what he did.
Both fighters showed heart and determination in the bout with KJ Noons’s coming away with a unanimous decision 58-55, 60-53, and 60-53 and managing to fight another day.
