With only eight days until their championship bout, Mariana “Barbie” Juarez and Irma “Guerita” Sanchez were weighed today to comply with the WBC’s rules. Their bout is scheduled for June 5th in Zapopan, MX, for the interim WBX female flyweight title.Mariana was weighed in a gym in the Zona Norte of Tijuana, MX, where she now resides by Dr. Jose Manuel Covarrubias, supervisor of the WBC.
The Mexico City native, who will be traveling to Zapopan Monday night, weighed in at 115.5 lbs, well under the limit stipulated by the WBC rulebook of 116.6 lbs.
“I feel the best I have ever felt and ready to jump inside the ring and become a world champion,” Juarez stated. She is trained by Jose “Olivaritos” Morales, father and trainer of three time world champion Erik “Terrible” Morales.
In Guadalajara, “Guerita” was weighed at 115 lbs. in the presence of Marcelino Silva, President of the Zapopan Boxing Comission.
“I feel very well prepared and I am anxious for the day of the fight to get here,” Sanchez expressed.
