The current interim WBC super bantamweight female champion Jackie “Aztec Princess” Nava has closed up shop in her native Tijuana, MX, and is ready to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina according to Rafael Soto of NotiFight.com for her next bout against Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuña (31-5, 16KO) on Thursday April 30th.
“Now I am just watching my weight. I am running and getting ready mentally for the fight against Acuña, we are going into her backyard but I feel more than ready,” Nava said who holds a record of 19-2-2, 16KO.
The bout will take place at the Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires. Nava will be traveling to the south American country on April 25th.
“I know that apart from her conditioning, Acuña will have everything else to her favor, its her country, with her fans that support her but we are going in sure about winning,” Nava, 28, stated.
Nava is considered one of the best female fighters in the world and her challenge of Acuña has been awaited for quite some time. Nava has taken the opportunity to dedicate the bout to a very special person.
“I am going to dedicate the fight to my father who I loved very much and has been watching over me. I also would like to dedicate it to Mexico,” Nava who has been two times WBC super bantamweight champion stated.
Nava will touch Argentinean ground within five days of the proposed bout but she mentions that it will not affect her although she expects that the conditions will not be easy.
“It’s normal for the home team to try to gain any advantage they can but I am not worried about going to Acuña’s house,” Nava concluded.
