The interim WBC female super bantamweight champion Jackie “Aztec Princess” Nava of Tijuana, MX, tipped the scales at 121.6 lbs. for her challenge of Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuna’s (120 lbs.) WBO and the full fledged WBC titles this Thursday night from Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Nava, 28, stated that she is happy and does not feel pressure after the weigh in and she is ready to defeat “La Tigresa” and return to Mexico with the WBC and WBA belts in tow.
“I am very happy. We know that she is the favorite and we can tell but it is normal. We are not scared, we are going to beat her , she doesn’t frighten us,” Nava said who is dedicating the fight to her country and to her deceased father.
Carlos Rodriguez, the assigned supervisor of the WBC, announced that one of the judges, the Mexican Javier Camacho was not able to reach Buenos Aires because of the swine flu precautions with flights between Mexico and Argentina.
The referee Roberto Ramirez of Puerto Rico will now serve as the third judge with the new third man inside the ring to be announced Thursday morning.
Tickets for the Nava-Acuna championship bout have been sold out for more than a month so fans will have to follow the action via closed circuit.
