Super featherweight Alejandro “Mantequitas” Rubio has disclosed to SDFights.com that he will be fighting on May 15th and May 29th. The nephew of five time lightweight champion Manuel “Mantecas” Medina has been inactive since June of last year when he won a unanimous six round decision over Alberto Paredes at the Municipal Auditorium in his native city of Tijuana, MX.
The undefeated Rubio (6-0, 3KO) is a tall and lanky fighter who has been sparring extensively at the CREA gym under the watchful eye of Romulo Quirarte Sr. as he takes on all comers, from super flyweight David De La Mora to WBC super featherweight champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto.
Rubio’s next bouts will be in Los Mochis, MX, and Campeche respectively. No opponents have been announced.
