It was reported yesterday by Steve Kim of MaxBoxing.com that San Diego’s own junior middleweight Danny Perez will be appearing in the semi main event of ESPN2′s Friday Night Fights on June 5th when he takes on Puerto Rico’s Carlos “Indio” Quintana in a ten round bout.
Being held in Chicago, Illinois, the actual venue has not been announced for the Dibella Entertainment promotion which boast a vacant WBC Latino Welterweight title fight between undefeated Joey Hernandez (15-0, 8KO) and Damian Frias (16-1, 7KO).
Perez (34-5, 17KO) is on a three fight winning streak since coming back to boxing after a two year hiatus. Within those three fights, Perez defeated Julio Cesar Garcia on the Casamayor-Marquez undercard on PPV with a unanimous decision and captured the USBA and WBO NABO light middleweight titles in his last win over Eric Mitchell in November of last year.
The former WBO welterweight champion Quintana (26-2, 20KO) is coming off a 4th round TKO over Joshua Onyango late last year after winning and then losing in his first defense of his title to the same man he won it against, Paul Williams.
