castro2Chris Cozzone, associate editor of Fightnews.com, recently reported that Javier “Zorro” Castro (19-1, 17KO) will step up in his biggest challenge to date when he takes on former welterweight champion Antonio Diaz (45-5-1, 29KO) of Coachella, CA on the “Latin Fury-Tijuana Thunder” card this Saturday night at the Plaza de Toros Munumental in Tijuana, MX.  Castro got the nod after Diaz’s original opponent, two time Jose Luis Castillo was scratched after a heel injury suffered last week.

Castro, who is known as a hard hitter, was slated to appear this last Saturday night in Chihuahua, but when his opponent fell out, he accepted the offer to take on Diaz.

“Zorro” is known as  a hard hitter with power in either fist.  His one loss to Jorge Reyna back in 2005 was due to hitting his opponent on the floor.  Since then, Castro has gone on a tear capturing the vacant WBC FECARBOX light welterweight title in the process over Jose Luis Lopez in 2007.
